Description
Strara is a trail running shoe designed to reduce impact stress while maintaining ground feel. Inspired by the structures found in the clubs of mantis shrimp, the shoe integrates a bi-corrugated dual density foam midsole to improve impact absorption while maintaining ground feel.

Innovation
The innovation centers on the use of bi-corrugated structures in the midsole, inspired by the impact-resistant microstructures of the mantis shrimp. This geometry allows the shoe to absorb repeated impacts while maintaining flexibility and ground feedback. The system was developed through parametric modeling and physical prototyping, adjusting variables like amplitude and frequency to tune performance. Combined with a dual-density, fully bio-based foam system, the design offers a new approach to balancing cushioning, stability, and responsiveness in trail running footwear.
