Innovation The product innovation rethinks footwear from the ground up designing not just a shoe, but a complete system around it. Each pair is produced in the brand’s own factory and, after use, returned by customers to its composting facility in Europe, ensuring full lifecycle responsibility. Rather than adapting conventional models, we started from first principles: how to create a sneaker that leaves no lasting waste. This led to a material-first approach, where every component of Fade 101 is selected for both performance and its ability to break down under controlled composting conditions.
By bringing manufacturing in-house, we ensure precision, transparency, and continuous development. In the absence of industry standards, it also created its own composting framework, paired with a take-back system. The result is a new model—where product, process, and end-of-life are fully aligned within a biocircular cycle.
Product Detail Fade 101 is a biocircular sneaker designed to safely return to nature at the end of its life. Its construction is intentionally simplified, reducing components and avoiding the complex layering typical of conventional footwear. This allows the product to break down as a whole within the brand’s controlled composting system.The upper is crafted from chrome-free leather, while laces are made from TENCEL™ fibres derived from responsibly managed wood sources. The lining is knit to shape using a blend of biobased fibres, minimising cutting waste during production. Underfoot, the sneaker combines compost-capable foam with natural rubber, delivering comfort, cushioning, and performance. The innovation lies in engineering the product around the unique properties of each material. Structural webbing provides strength, while the embroidered logo secures the lining to the upper—enabling a glue-free upper construction and enhancing breathability in wear.
