Description As a team, we concentrated on redesigning the Easy Rider and delved into our target market of workers on their feet for long hours. Our shoe is designed for everyone but will be especially helpful to workers on their feet for long hours; healthcare workers, cleaning staff, hairdressers, and more. We believe that no one should have to sacrifice personal style to be comfortable. Additionally, research has indicated that this is quite a large, underserved market. This is why our shoe concept would seek to achieve the APMA seal of approval. The American Podiatric Medical Association seal is awarded to shoes proven to be beneficial to foot health. Shoes must be reviewed by a board of certified podiatrists to earn the seal, giving our shoes an air of legitimacy. Our target demographic specifically seeks out shoes with this seal, a fact that will help with marketability and advertising. We researched the original long-distance Easy Rider model along with the current street-style version. We have combined the heritage of the Easy Rider with modern performance and comfort.
Innovation Puma consistently stands out from a sea of competitors through their ability to innovate. An early example of this innovation is the Easy Rider.Invented in 1977, the Easy Rider sought to reduce injuries in long-distance runners. Its creation spawned an entire line of shoes known as theRider Family. As time has passed, the shoes have shifted from their athletic roots to focusing on streetwear stylings. Thus we created ‘CozyRider’ to merge the Easy Rider of the past with the Rider family of the present day. Honouring Puma’s commitment to safety and comfort while maintaining streetwear trends, ultimately designing a comfortable but stylish shoe, designing the potential next generation of the Rider Family.
Product Detail To create a comfortable shoe, materials were chosen to provide comfort and stability to stand for long hours of the day. For the upper, a mesh textile combined with an open-cell foam material will provide excellent insolation. Nubuck leather, made from cowhide, is soft and very resistant to wear. For the collar and tongue, we chose memory foam, a synthetic material composed of viscoelastic polyurethane foam. These are great qualities that ensure comfort and allow for the shoe to properly mould to the wearer's foot. For the interior lining, we chose cambrelle, known for its abrasion resistance, softness, antifungal, and moisture-absorbing properties. Ortholite X-Sorb Insoles are Ideal for environments where comfort, performance, stability, and mobility are critical. Protects against shock while reducing fatigue, without limiting motion. For the outsole, thermoplastic rubber has excellent shock absorption and slip resistance. For the midsole, Polyurethane, is known for its ability to rebound and provide a reliable cushion. This gives the shoe a longer lifespan while being flexible and comfortable. Combining this with Puma’s patented RS cushioning will make for the perfect midsole.
