Description Mirage is a sneaker concept inspired by 50 years of Hip Hop, drawing from Hype Williams' iconic music videos spanning the 1990s to 2010.Specifically, it incorporates features and elements from three key music videos: Missy Elliott's 'The Rain,' Busta Rhymes ft. Janet Jackson's'What’s It Gonna Be?!,' and TLC’s 'No Scrubs.' The fluid movement of liquid mercury, Missy Elliott's sunglasses headpiece, and metallic backgrounds all contribute to the Mirage sneaker's embodiment of the 90s futurism aesthetic, serving as key influences in our design. Mirage is envisioned as a high-end customized sneaker, reflecting the fusion of Hip Hop culture and cutting-edge design. Our team had the privilege to collaborate with FormLabs, a 3D printing company, to bring the concept to life and visualize the shoe. Through Mirage, we aim to pay homage to Hip Hop aesthetics while pushing the boundaries of sneaker innovation.
Innovation Each shoe features a unique wave pattern due to the variation created by the 3D-printed transparent TPU outer encasing. This customization is achievable due to 3D printing, a technology that frees us from the limitations of traditional mould-making methods. Additionally, the added colour customization feature guarantees that every shoe is one-of-a-kind.
Product Detail Designed for distinction and functionality, this sneaker combines a bold aesthetic with innovative materials and technology, ensuring comfort and durability while making a statement in the world of footwear. The upper is made of soft, full-grain leather, allowing the high top to slide on easily. The outer encasing is transparent, UV-treated, flexible TPU to prevent yellowing under the sun. The ankle closure system features a snap-to-fit mesh TPU 3D-printed component, providing a snug yet flexible fit for easy entry. Lastly, the midsole and grip pattern are made ofUV-treated TPU. The midsole incorporates a lattice structure for shock absorption and comfort.
Specification Mirage shoes are unisex, available in Men's US Shoe Sizes: 6-16 and Women's US Shoe Sizes: 4-12. The colours are customizable, with the upper made of full-grain leather offered in either white or black. Additionally, the midsole, grip pattern, and ankle closure system colours can be fully customized, offering a variety of colour choices to match the consumer's aesthetic.
