Being from the heart of the Austrian alps and a family where skiing means everything, it was quite obvious that Patrick´s creative career would lead him to the sports industry sooner or later. As a Product Designer at Ortovox, he designs technical backpacks for mountaineering and ski touring as well as safety equipment and avalanche gear. In the last two years he was involved in a transnational collaborative project between Ortovox in Germany and Arcteryx in Canada, developing a lightweight electronic avalanche airbag system.
Before designing sports products, he gained experience in consumer electronics at the design and innovation agency Designaffairs. Patrick holds a bachelor’s from the University of Arts and Design in Linz, did an exchange semester at the Politecnico di Milano and graduated with a master’s program of Advanced Product Design at the Umeå Institute of Design in Sweden, with a thesis project about high altitude climbing.
